Mumbai/Leh: At just 24 years of age, Mumbai-based cycling and adventure enthusiast Takshil Thakkar successfully completed the challenging Manali-to-Leh Cycling Expedition, held from 8th August 2026 to 14th August 2026, combining endurance adventure with a heartfelt message of patriotism and gratitude towards the Indian Armed Forces.

Takshil, who belongs to a Gujarati family settled in Mumbai, is professionally associated with a premium biking accessories store, Lazy ass bikers. He is widely known among cycling and biking enthusiasts for his passion for adventure sports, long-distance riding, and high-altitude expeditions. His love for challenging terrains inspired him to take on one of India’s most demanding cycling routes through the Himalayas.

Cycling with a Purpose

The expedition was not only a test of physical endurance but also carried a meaningful social and emotional cause.

During the journey, the team received Rakhis, handwritten letters, and handmade gifts from school students, intended as a gesture of love, respect, and gratitude for the Indian Army. The cyclists carried these heartfelt tokens throughout the expedition and, upon reaching Leh, personally handed them over to Indian Army personnel.

This initiative created a strong emotional bridge between schoolchildren and soldiers, allowing young students to express their appreciation for the armed forces serving in extreme and challenging conditions.

Teamwork Behind the Expedition

Takshil was accompanied by a dedicated team comprising Govind, Dr. Ankit Jaiswal, Vinod Yadav, Arjun Dhuri, and Aparna Khanore.

The expedition also received strong support from the support team, including Ichanshu Bajpai and Avinash Bhatia, who played a crucial role in logistics, coordination, and operational assistance throughout the journey.

The event was organised by Commando Training School and sponsored by Home Consultancy, Silver Line Phase 1. Manish Jha served as the organiser of the expedition, ensuring smooth execution of the challenging high-altitude ride.

Felicitated by Indian Army in Leh

After successfully completing the expedition, Takshil Thakkar was felicitated by the Indian Army in Leh in recognition of both his achievement and the meaningful initiative undertaken by the team.

The honour became a proud and emotional moment for the young cyclist, as the journey went beyond adventure and sport, symbolising respect, gratitude, and national pride. Delivering the schoolchildren’s messages directly to the soldiers added a deeply personal and patriotic dimension to the expedition.

For Takshil, the Manali-to-Leh cycling journey represents a powerful blend of adventure, endurance, teamwork, and social responsibility. The expedition highlighted how adventure sports can be used as a platform to inspire youth and strengthen the emotional connection between citizens and the armed forces.

As a young adventure enthusiast from Mumbai, Takshil Thakkar hopes his journey will motivate more youngsters to embrace cycling, fitness, and outdoor challenges while also participating in initiatives that honour and support the nation’s soldiers.
