Appearing through a special video presentation displayed on two giant screens at the UN, Chohan emphasized that knowledge of fundamental rights empowers citizens and strengthens democracy. Her speech highlighted the importance of making constitutional literacy a practical component of India’s education system.

During the event, Sheena Chohan was honoured with the Human Rights Hero Award in recognition of her efforts to spread awareness about human rights and equality to more than 120 million people worldwide.

Addressing delegates at the United Nations, Sheena referred to the recent example of Rhiya Ahir, stating that awareness of constitutional rights can empower ordinary citizens to stand up against injustice.

She stressed that both the Indian Constitution and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights provide citizens with essential protections and encouraged people to study these documents not merely to memorize them, but to understand and apply them in everyday life.

According to Chohan, constitutional awareness should become a lifelong skill that enables citizens to participate responsibly in democracy.
