Agritech Startup Transforms Informal Farm Labour into Structured Employment Across 10,000 Acres in Just Six Months

Mumbai / Nashik, 1 May 2026: On this Labour Day, Bharat Intelligence announced a significant milestone in rural workforce transformation: over 2,000 tribal agricultural workers have earned an average net income exceeding ₹500 per day worked through its Phala labour platform within just six months of operations.

By aggregating labour demand across Nashik’s grape-growing belt, Bharat Intelligence has created a dependable and structured employment pipeline for more than 2,000 tribal workers—many of whom previously depended on fragmented informal networks, uncertain wages, and unpredictable last-minute farm calls.

Phala Platform Brings Structure, Stability, and Dignity to Agricultural Labour

Through its end-to-end Phala platform, Bharat Intelligence manages the full agricultural labour lifecycle—from worker identification and verification to skill mapping, training, deployment, work tracking, and timely payments.

This model provides workers with:

  • Advance visibility into job opportunities
  • Transparent daily wage structures
  • Uniforms and identity cards
  • Verified proof of work
  • Skill records for long-term employability

For tribal communities, who make up 100% of the workers deployed through the platform so far, this approach transforms seasonal migration into organised, predictable, and dignified employment.

A Labour Day Commitment to India’s Invisible Workforce

“On Labour Day, we want to recognise the invisible workforce that keeps Bharat alive,” said Azhaan Merchant, Co-founder and CEO, Bharat Intelligence. “India’s 140 million agricultural labourers deserve more than informal, uncertain work. Our mission is to build a better system where workers receive planned jobs, fair earnings, recognised identity, and dignity.”

The company’s larger vision is rooted in the belief that India’s agricultural progress must include structured protections and professional recognition for the labourers who sustain it.

Building Rural India’s Labour Operating Layer

“India built digital rails for payments, identity, and commerce. Rural labour now needs its own operating layer,” said Gourav Sanghai, Co-founder and CTO, Bharat Intelligence. “Our ambition is to make agricultural work reliable for farmers and dignified for workers at scale.”

Reliable Labour for Farmers, Better Livelihoods for Workers

For farmers, Bharat Intelligence ensures access to trained agricultural workers for critical crop operations such as:

  • Pruning
  • Canopy management
  • Harvesting

For workers, the platform offers a shift from irregular daily-wage dependency to predictable employment with stronger income visibility.

Expansion Beyond Nashik: Pune, Jalgaon, and Banana Crop Operations

Following its success across 10,000 acres of vineyard operations in Nashik, Bharat Intelligence has expanded into Pune and Jalgaon while also launching its second crop vertical in banana cultivation.

Vision 2036: Organising Work for 1 Million Rural Workers

Over the next decade, Bharat Intelligence aims to organise structured employment opportunities for 1 million rural workers across multiple agricultural districts and crop categories, setting a new benchmark for inclusive agritech-led workforce transformation.

About Bharat Intelligence

Bharat Intelligence is a farmer-backed agritech company co-owned by 22,500+ farmers and focused on building India’s agricultural workforce operating layer. By combining reliable farm execution with worker empowerment, the company is creating a future where agricultural labour is organised, recognised, and economically sustainable.
