Greater Noida: A brain tumor diagnosis can be life-changing, but with timely detection, advanced technology, and expert medical care, even the most complex cases can be treated successfully. Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Omega-1, Greater Noida, shared an inspiring recovery story of a 37-year-old patient who overcame a rare and complex brain tumor and returned to a healthy, normal life.

The patient had been experiencing recurrent episodes of dizziness for nearly a year, progressive memory loss over the past six months, difficulty in speech, and recently suffered seizures accompanied by tongue biting and loss of consciousness. As the symptoms gradually worsened and began affecting his daily life, he underwent a comprehensive neurological evaluation at Yatharth Hospital.

Investigations revealed a rare skull-base brain tumor known as Left Medial Sphenoid Wing Meningioma, located in close proximity to critical blood vessels and sensitive brain structures. Considering the complexity of the tumor, the Neurosciences team performed detailed vascular mapping using advanced imaging techniques, including Cerebral Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA), to formulate the safest treatment strategy.

The evaluation showed that the tumor was highly vascular (hypervascular), receiving blood supply from multiple major cerebral arteries. The case became even more challenging because of the presence of several high-risk vascular structures, making pre-operative tumor embolization potentially hazardous.

After carefully assessing all clinical aspects, the Neurointerventional team decided against embolization to prioritize patient safety. The patient subsequently underwent advanced neurosurgical intervention, during which the tumor was completely and safely removed.
Today, the patient has made an excellent recovery. His dizziness has completely resolved, his memory and cognitive functions have improved significantly, and he has experienced no further seizures. He has successfully resumed his normal personal and professional life.

On the occasion, Dr. Sumit Goyal, Director & HOD – Neurosurgery and Group Director – Neurointervention, Yatharth Hospital, said:” I would like to remind everyone that a brain tumor diagnosis is not the end of hope. Persistent headaches, dizziness, memory loss, seizures, balance problems, or changes in vision are often dismissed as stress or age-related issues. However, timely evaluation and diagnosis can be lifesaving.”

“At Yatharth Hospital, we have successfully managed several rare and complex brain tumor cases. These include the 37-year-old patient with Left Medial Sphenoid Wing Meningioma, a 40-year-old patient with Olfactory Groove Meningioma who had lost her sense of smell, and a 76-year-old patient with hydrocephalus and a pituitary tumor, who was successfully treated through a minimally invasive transnasal approach. These success stories demonstrate that with advanced technology, timely intervention, and a multidisciplinary team of specialists, even the most challenging brain tumors can be treated successfully. Our message is clear—stay alert to warning signs, seek timely medical attention, and never lose hope, because modern medicine continues to improve outcomes for brain tumor patients every day.”
